Comparison

I know very little about the Japanese. I was in Tokyo once. Only for a day.

Koreans have some of the same lifestyle, but they are very friendly, if you know how to approach them.

The Korean language has different forms depending on whom you are speaking with.

Ban dae mal, is for casual conversation among people of the same age. Chun dae mal is formal language spoken to elders.

I like the politeness of that structure.

I have been to Korea 6 times. There is an island south of the peninsula, called Cheju Island.

I have been there twice. It’s a tourist spot. There is a mountain, Hala San Mountain and beautiful beaches.

If you like seafood, Busan is the best place to go. They have open air markets everywhere that sell food, clothing and other items.

Korean men often work extremely hard for employers or bosses who are not appreciative.

This leads to a lot of heavy drinking. Like the man drinking whiskey that you mentioned.

Buddhist temples are around. More like museums.

Korean Christianity is very much influenced by the Billy Graham Crusade.

Korean Christianity is very vibrant and passionate. Singers of Gospel music are very much moved by the Lord. You can feel it.

Korean prayers offer begin with a loud shout of Juyaw!!! Jehovah.

In Korea you can tell the good hotels by the number of taxis waiting outside.

You mentioned being on the train. My favorite form of transportation.

Where I grew up in Mount Prospect, Illinois, the town was incorporated in 1917. Built along the Northwestern Line that went into Chicago and West to Iowa.

I matched in the 1967 parade commemorating the 50th anniversary.

Japanese has three alphabets. Hiragana, original Japanese. Katakana, for foreign languages and Kanji for Chinese based words.

I took Japanese at the UCLA Extension , but it didn’t stick with me.

I am glad you are home now.
