Raoul’s Two Cents: May 9, 2025<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Oh no! It’s Mother’s Day!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For many in this world, Sunday is Mother\u2019s Day. But for our family, it\u2019s an annual complicated day of celebration because we have two grandmas, two Moms, a Dad\u2019s birthday and a Mother\u2019s birthday. How do you make them feel special when they share the same cake? Get separate cakes that no one will eat? I don\u2019t think so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One thing\u2019s for sure. We\u2019re not eating at a restaurant. This is the most popular day for restaurants so who wants to deal with the culinary traffic, right? Nah! We\u2019re catering the food and finding a spot in a park \u2026 and crossing our fingers that it doesn\u2019t rain!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I usually plan parties with my daughter who is the designated event planner of the family. However, this year her family may not be around because they have a funeral to go to and it might fall on Mother\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you can see, this is getting very stressful. In my exasperation (in hopes of youthful insights), I asked my 2 grand kids if they had anything planned for their mother. One of them was forced to make a school project for Mom. The other hadn\u2019t given it much thought \u2026 he\u2019s a teenager now so I guess he\u2019s allowed to be self-absorbed. I think of conservative Muslims who do not celebrate Mother\u2019s Day — maybe I’ll change religion on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, whatever we decide, I\u2019m sure everyone will give a sigh of relief when this is all over. And I’m not holding my breath for next year when the crisis repeats itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But seriously, to the people responsible for teaching generations to behave, Happy Mother\u2019s Day!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is just silly ol’ me. TGIF people!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
