Another month \u2026 another wrinkle. Another workday \u2026 another body ache. I decided to write a checklist of what I think about getting old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You know you\u2019re old if:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Social Security is your friend.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tinnitus follows you wherever you go.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your back squeaks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Every word you want to say is at the tip of your tongue.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are aghast at a group picture of oldies until you realize they were your classmates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You wear reading glasses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You constantly clean your counter top because of all the dead skin cells that are floating around.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have a weekly pill box.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It takes forever to select your movie for the night because you can\u2019t remember if you\u2019ve watched it already.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The gym is not your friend.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Age spots and bald spots pop up everywhere.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your gums are receding while your teeth stop whitening.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You shop at Aldi\u2019s and you love to bargain hunt.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are lactose intolerant and you\u2019re shopping for adult diapers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You visit your doctor more often than your children.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You pick up your grandkids after school. And this is the highlight of your day.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You don\u2019t recognize any music in the top 40s.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You go to a lot of funerals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You stayed home and had a quiet New Year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019re reading this email.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Feeling old? I feel your pain &#8212;<em> literally!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m older than my Dad when I thought he was old. I\u2019m older than George Washington when he became President at 57. George Burns \u2026 well, at least he was way older when he died at 100. Of course there are Mick Jagger and Keith Richards &#8212; <em>they\u2019ll never die!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But really, who\u2019s counting? I stopped counting birthdays when I started counting blood pressure. Getting old is just a new skin I\u2019ve slowly adjusted to. And it ain\u2019t bad at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just because I\u2019m old, people think I have wisdom. I get senior discounts without asking for them. I stopped eating like a horse. My wardrobe hasn\u2019t changed for decades. My wife and I date often because our idea of date night is having dinner watching a good movie on TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t know about you but I don\u2019t want to live forever. And I certainly don\u2019t want to be a burden to anyone. But I\u2019ll hang around this body as long as God wants me to be here. And while I still can, I\u2019ll maximize the time He has given me.
