You didn’t mention it was your birthday, but you talked about yourself.

1. Bald spot. Receding hairline. OK. There’s a reason I shave my head. If I didn’t, there would only be wisps of hair. Get over it. Wear your gray hair and lack of it as a sign of strength. Vanity leave my friend alone.

2. Glasses. I have been wearing glasses since 1967. Back then we only had one choice of frames. What were called safety glasses. Wire rims and all that came out in the 1970’s. Kids wore safety glasses. Vanity leave my friend alone.

3. Droopy biceps. Look at me. I have a gut that hangs over my belt. This belly is getting out of control. I’m going to have to do something about it. You are quite slender. Vanity leave my friend alone.

4. Tinnitus. OK, a real problem. Something I don’t have. You are a musician. More than anything I can muster. Not being able to hear well is a problem. However, you are not at the point of hearing aids. I won’t say anything else.

5. Wisdom.

Glad you recognize that. Yes, we are so much better for all our life experiences. As Christians and humans. We are grateful for all we have received, which is so great compared to so many others. The poverty in places like Rwanda that we know about is so bad compared to all we have. No joking about this. Thank You Lord for all we have received in your name and your grace. In Jesus name. Amen.

Mind says you are 12, but body says you why not dead? Come on. Except for some creaky bones and bad ears, you are a healthy man. My friend, my brother in Christ. So grateful that God blessed me to meet you.

Last night, Kay and I went to Power Worship at our church.

Mostly a gospel song night, with a sermon mixed in. We have it once every two months. Different musicians come and we had a great time. There’s one Korean song entitled Grace that I love. I will sing it for you someday. More uptempo songs saying Hallelujah are there. Koreans use the English word Hallelujah a lot and the pronunciation is about the same as English.

Wow, I am long winded tonight. When you wake up to this you will wonder what your friend Larry is doing.

Necessary, I believe, because I count you as a friend and my brother in Christ, so Larry speaks his mind and heart to you.
