My father was the Director of the Boys Club in Colorado Springs and I can remember staying at this camp as a family in the 70's. There wasn't a dude ranch then, but the club did use it for trips with some of the boys, and if I recall it was run by the El Pomar Foundation. El Pomar was a non-profit created by Spencer, and I do believe that when he died he left the ranch to them. That's how my dad had access - El Pomar was a supporter of the Boys Club.

I remember it being a magical place with a few bears that loved to raid the kitchen and scare my mom to death. But my brother and I loved running around and being the only ones on all those acres. One day I want to get back up there and see the changes, but the gazebo is the same one I remember from way back then.
