Raoul’s Two Cents:<\/strong> April 5, 2024<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Mechanical Failure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I was worried about my friend “Barry” who needed to get a new car battery. I was also watching some infuriating videos about the politicians in different parts of the country. I fell asleep. Then I woke up from a silly dream that was influenced by my friend and the videos; so I thought I\u2019d share it with you. Honest! This situation really was in my dream. Hope you like it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* * START of DREAM * * *<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barry\u2019s car breaks down in the middle of the road and he calls out for help. Adang Sheet, the mechanic from Triple-Bypass A is the first to show up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barry: Thanks for coming! I\u2019m glad I subscribed to your Free Car Assistance Program. But before you work your magic, I want you to know that I have a very tight budget. So knowing this, can you still get my car to start running?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adang: Sure can pardner, they don\u2019t call me \u201cAdang Shifty Sheet” for nothin\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hearing that nickname, Barry gets very anxious about the idiot before him but he lets Adang figure out what\u2019s wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few minutes later \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adang: Well, looks like you have a dead battery, mister. I have a BRAND NEW one in my truck. I can sell it to you for $500.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barry: $500?!? Batteries in Walmart only cost $300 at the most!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adang: Sure they do. But they don\u2019t sparkle as good as mine. I painted \u2018em muhself.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barry: I don\u2019t really care for sparkles. I just want my car to run.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adang: Tell you what, since you look like an honest feller, I can sell it to you for $350. It\u2019ll save you a trip to Walmart.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barry: Gee thanks for the offer but I can\u2019t afford anything over $100 now. Do you have any other solution?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Realizing he\u2019s dealing with a smart man, Adang says: Lesse now, I can sell you an OLD battery at the back. I\u2019ll sell it for $100. It doesn\u2019t charge anymore but I can exchange it and at least get your car running fer ya!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barry: So you could get my car running if we use an old battery?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adang: Sure can.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barry: So why can\u2019t you use MY old battery instead of YOUR old battery to get my car running?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adang looks at Barry with disgust and, without another word, he jumps the car and Adang successfully starts Barry\u2019s car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barry: Thanks for getting my car running again. Sorry you didn\u2019t make any money this time.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adang: Before you go, can I ask a little donation for the LMA<\/strong>, which is a non-profit organization I just started?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barry: LMA<\/strong>? What does that stand for?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adang: L<\/strong>ousy M<\/strong>echanics of A<\/strong>merica — someone\u2019s gotta stand up for people like me.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barry laughs uncontrollably while Adamn wonders what\u2019s so funny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barry: You aren\u2019t very good at this, are you?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adang: I guess not. That\u2019s why I\u2019m the president of the LMA.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barry (laughing even more): Well, you\u2019re a good mechanic but a lousy salesman \u2026 but you\u2019re kinda honest, and you\u2019ve got ambition \u2026 I\u2019ve got connections in the government. How\u2019d you like a change of career? How\u2019d you like to run for the Senate?!?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adang: Dang! Hot digity dawg! Let\u2019s go pardner!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that\u2019s how Adang wound up in the Senate floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you think of many politicians, do you wonder if they got their start as a member of the LMA? I certainly do \u2026 but that’s just me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
