{"id":4533,"date":"2018-02-02T06:06:02","date_gmt":"2018-02-02T06:06:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/travelingboy.com\/travel\/?p=4533"},"modified":"2018-02-02T17:23:38","modified_gmt":"2018-02-02T17:23:38","slug":"the-super-duper-extended-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/travelingboy.com\/travel\/the-super-duper-extended-family\/","title":{"rendered":"The Super Duper Extended Family"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2009\" src=\"https:\/\/travelingboy.com\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/departments-heather1.jpg\" alt=\"Heather Kobler\" width=\"546\" height=\"120\" srcset=\"https:\/\/travelingboy.com\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/departments-heather1.jpg 546w, https:\/\/travelingboy.com\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/departments-heather1-300x66.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 546px) 100vw, 546px\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Families can be a very powerful thing and sometimes a negative one as well.\u00a0 But remember this, you do not have to be biologically linked to people for them to become part of your family.\u00a0 You just have to love them and they become a part of the family forever, if you\u2019re lucky.\u00a0 Drama of any kind should never be part of a family because it belongs on the stage, not in your home.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4532\" src=\"https:\/\/travelingboy.com\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Family.jpg\" alt=\"Family\" width=\"850\" height=\"236\" srcset=\"https:\/\/travelingboy.com\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Family.jpg 850w, https:\/\/travelingboy.com\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Family-600x167.jpg 600w, https:\/\/travelingboy.com\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Family-300x83.jpg 300w, https:\/\/travelingboy.com\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Family-768x213.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When a family doesn\u2019t want to invite non-related people into their lives, or doesn\u2019t want to let its members out of the inner circle to meet others, everyone losses.\u00a0 Expanding your field of vision is a good thing because, we are more alike than we are different.\u00a0 For Pete\u2019s sake, our parts are even interchangeable!<\/p>\n<p>Staying connected to others is like tending a garden and it takes work.\u00a0 You must water, feed, prune and fertilize to keep things growing.\u00a0 And, sometimes you have to remove one of those things.\u00a0 But if you do the work, everything blooms and thrives.<\/p>\n<p>I grew up in a three story brownstone and students from all over the country rented little sleeping rooms upstairs while they went to college in Chicago.\u00a0 For most tenants, it was the first time they were away from home and they were home sick.\u00a0 They all loved my parents and us kids because we reminded them of home.\u00a0 There was always room for one more at the table, lots to eat and someone to listen to their hopes, dreams, and fears.\u00a0 And sometimes to help wipe away their tears.<\/p>\n<p>Damon Runyon invented some amazing characters in his short stories that you came to love because of their \u201cearthiness\u201d.\u00a0 You might not remember the plot of \u201cGuys and Dolls\u201d, but you\u2019ll never forget its characters like; Sky Masterson, Nathan Detroit, Sorrowful Jones, Marky.\u00a0 Most of my parent\u2019s friends were a lot like the characters I mentioned and they had stories to tell.<\/p>\n<p>The students I met and the fictional characters I met by reading, have left an indelible impression in my mind. Besides the students that came and went for years, my parents invited many different people into our lives that still live in my memories.\u00a0\u00a0 I know this is why I see things in panoramic vision. \u00a0I\u2019m grateful that I met all those wonderful people while I was growing up, and by reading throughout my life. \u00a0I still smile when I remember all of them decades later.<\/p>\n<p>I think we can all get inspiration from the characters we\u2019ve met in life.\u00a0 And, reading a good book, or seeing a good movie and taking the time to savor the images conjured up in your mind from these experiences is delicious!\u00a0 Who could ever forget &#8220;To Kill a Mocking Bird&#8221; or &#8220;Gone with the Wind&#8221;?\u00a0 Both books became blockbusters movies and both of them taught us things to do and things we should never do! \u00a0\u00a0Your life is like a script, and you can change directions anytime you wish.\u00a0 You don\u2019t even need a magic
