Motorcycle Apps too Cool to Miss

These days it seems everyone is using a smartphone, including bikers. There are thousands of apps available for download and some of the motorcycle apps are just too cool to pass up.

The first business of the day for any rider is checking the weather. We all know first-hand about heading out for a ride on the perfect day and coming home drenched from a passing monsoon rain that wasn't forecast until you left home. The WeatherBug app will help you to decide whether or not you should throw some rain gear in the saddle bags. If by chance you do have to sit out the storm, challenge your racing skills with Moto Chaser. I can’t get enough of this motion sensitive arcade style game and especially enjoy playing it in the winter to chase away my lack of riding blues.

Now that the obvious is out of the way, let’s talk about the cool travel apps that will really enhance your road trips.

Trip Journal is an app that was voted the number one travel app by Google. Document and share your road trips and vacations with family and friends in real time. Integrated Google earth allows you to map your travels so the people you are sharing with can actually see where you have been. Upload photos, videos and blog posts and interact with social networking sites like Facebook, YouTube and Twitter with a few simple clicks. For those of you that use Facebook and Twitter, they have an app for that too. Both will keep you connected to MotorcycleInsurance.com so you can stay current with all of the latest updates to the site while on the road. If you are someone that finds Trip Journal a necessity, you won't want to live without an app called Best Biking Roads. Make the most of your trips to the land of the unknown by being linked to all the roads you may never have found. Don't just follow the crowd through the usual rally runs, lay your own journey and lead the way on the best motorcycling roads off the beaten path. New routes are continuously being added by riders everywhere so you will never have to follow the crowd again.

Biker Beacon is a social networking app that was created just for motorcycle enthusiasts. This one is only available on the iPhone. Like most other social networking apps, it will allow you to connect with friends but it also allows you to track your riding buddies in real time so nobody is ever lost or left behind. It's a cool way for bikers who ride together to stay together, both socially and on the road.
