Carolina in My Mind

Greetings from North Carolina!

I visited my Tita Dolly and Tito Ken in Arlington VA. They treated me like a king and drove me around. Then Bernie (one of my college chums) and I drove for about 8 hours from Virginia to North Carolina to meet up with our other college chums at Dr. Manny’s mansion to record some songs and rekindle our friendship. We didn’t even need to turn on the radio. There was just so much to share. I felt like a kid again — laughing and comparing our memory banks — we were two balding senior citizen kids heading for a frat party.

Along the way, we had to detour because of the debris of mudslides and fallen trees which were caused by the Hurricane Helene. Dr. Manny’s house and his neighbors were spared of the tragedy. God was kind to him. The irony did not escape me.

Sometimes I wonder why I deserve this much happiness. What a gift from the Lord to enrich my life with genuine friends who accept me with all my defects. If you know what I’m talking about, you’re blessed too. Please don’t take it for granted.

The weather’s fine. There’s food in the fridge. And I’m having a blast with my college chums.

In the meantime, you guys enjoy the jokes I collected especially for your Halloween celebration. I trust you’re having fun and you have a costume to wear. Nothing scary please.

Of course, this is just me. TGIF people!

    Good morning Raoul,

Not sure if you’re still on the East coast but if you’re in the Edenton area you gotta go to the Herringbone Restaurant. It’s a beautiful spot for very good food.

    All the best,

    Gary

Nice narrative about your experiences in N. Carolina…with Tito Dolly and Tito Ken… and Bernie behind the wheel.

Enjoyed the many jokes. The Serial Killer one was the best. Plus, your illustrations was even better than that.

World Series today at 5PM (PST)!
