Darth Vader’s Christmas Power

Raoul’s Two Cents: December 2, 2022

‘Tis the Season

I’m back home in Los Angeles. Appreciate all your kind words and prayers for my family in light of my Dad’s passing. It’s time to move on with life.

I’m still feeling jetlagged and I sleep during the weirdest hours of the day. I missed my wife so much I actually went shopping with her. Early on in our marriage we decided she would shop on her own because she took hours to decide things. I actually enjoyed sitting in the mall with the other waiting Dads and watched people zooming past with their Christmas haul.

After staying in Iligan City (an industrial town in the Southern part of the Philippines) for 3 weeks, I could really appreciate the simple things we Americans take for granted. Things like clean beautiful architecture, cemented roads, clean air, reliable internet access, free movie channels, reliable phone service, etc. We’re really spoiled here in the U.S.. The demonstrators who cry for more don’t realize how entitled they already are. Reminds me of the Jews who complained for 40 years in the desert — they took the free food called manna, the pillar of cloud to guide them by day and the pillar of fire to guide them by night but instead of praising God they wanted more, more, more.

What do you want for Christmas? Me? I don’t really want anything for Christmas. When I look around, I already have what I want. Being home is the best Christmas present ever.

TGIF people!

Raoul

And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.”
— Exodus 13:21

Gratitude is the best trait we can have and going home to your birth country teaches us things that reinforce how fortunate we are to live in such an amazing country as the USA, (Warts and all)!

Good Morning Raoul, Glad you’re home and safe buddy, yeah you’re lucky to go shopping with your wife. I hated shopping with my wife , all I did was just carry her bags , and always say ( just pick something and let’s go lol) lol . God Bless .

Good to see your Return to Paradise reminding us of how blessed we are to live here where we do. Friday Mornings are just not the same without your TGIFs. Our Wives are seldom really appreciated until an absence and that is so true.
Welcome Home and sincere condolences on your Dads passing. God Bless! Tom

    Dear Raoul,

I am sorry to learn of your father’s passing, but I am glad that you could be with him during his final days. I hope you have some fond memories despite the great loss you have experienced. We were in the midst of moving to a senior residence up here because of my wife’s major fall head first on concrete in March and the subsequent major issues she is facing. Anyway, I was away from your TGIF news for a while. May God be with you in adjusting to your loss. When my father died so suddenly at 66 of a heart attack, it was a shock to all of the family and I grieved the loss for a few years and still have many fond memories of how he looked after me and taught me many of life’s necessary skills.

    Blessings to you and Jackie.
