The Other Side

I fell asleep watching the news. I woke up in the middle of the night with a silly song about the craziness of people “gaslighting” (confusing reality) and pointing fingers at each other for the socioeconomic mess we’re in. Let’s do a little experiment. Which political party does this song describe?

Here’s what I’ve written so far:

VERSE 1
I walk among a crowded world of egotistical elites
Who prance around like peacocks pretending to be chic.
They make up facts and lie and cheat.
They love to seem compassionate
They take credit and they edit
thinking we’re too dumb to see through their conceit.

CHORUS
They’re delusional, confusional,
So utterly fictitional —
A reality that only they believe.

These illogically laughable,
highly irresponsible ideas
from so-called “geniuses” conceived.

As I was writing this, it dawned on me that any political side could claim the song perfectly describes their opposition. Isn’t that strange? But isn’t that so true? The other guys are always guilty. We’re never wrong. And that in itself is wrong.

It’s clear why it’s hard to talk politics with the other side … whichever side that may be. Hmmmm …

TGIF people!

Videos of the Week

Thanks to Rick of Nashville, Tennessee for this mesmerizing AGT audition of an Elvis impersonator. Pretty wild. I couldn’t believe how good he looked.

Thanks to Art of Sierra Madre. CA for this splashing display of talent.

These I found

I really laughed at this one.

They always blame the hard working Dad.

Reminds me of me.

It took a few seconds but I was laughing when I got the joke.

Good morning Raoul, The song fits both sides but the difference is that one side speaks about policies that Disneyland wouldn’t even use and they lie about things that would be impossible to work lol. The other side may also lie but at least there lies make good sense and are believable. Example taking power from Law enforcement will reduce crime (Democrats) — Lie! .

Loved your poem and agree with its premise.
The Elvis was Great and so real.
The Fun in Funeral is what I experience in attending one that is the celebration of one’s life. I try to figure out who it is in that aging body of the people there I attended a high School With.

Our Faith should prepare us for such celebrations.

I look forward to these Smiles every Friday and thank you for providing them.
