Tick Tock, Tick Tock. Times Up!

Yep!  The clock is ticking every day of our lives.  If someone instilled the ability in you to plan ahead for an event or your future, you’re one of the lucky ones.

becoming more focused and goal orientated

Here are the seven P’s: Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.  I make lists for things I want to accomplish.   This list is above my desk and when I finish something, I can cross it off my “To Do List.”  I call this, “Slaying a dragon.”  I enjoy marking off projects as I complete them because it makes me feel powerful.

Then there’s something called the “Action Board.”  You split a bulletin board into three equal parts.  The left third is for projects to be done immediately. The middle third is for things to be done as soon as possible.  The last third is for projects that require more planning or materials to complete the project.

If you utilize this type of bulletin board, it will help you to become more focused and goal orientated.  The board should be the first thing you see in the morning and the last thing you see at night. Never put off until tomorrow what you can accomplish today.

I began ironing very young and my mother always told me to do the hardest piece of clothing first.  I still do the hardest thing first no matter what the project is.

Getting up early and giving yourself enough time to eat, dress and prepare for your day with time to spare is a powerful thing.  If you walk outside to go to work and find you have a flat tire, it’s no problem because you have time on your side.

I’d much rather be early than to arrive late for any event.  How you use your time makes a huge statement about who you are.  When you interact with someone who is organized and follows through on his or her work, it is impressive.  What message do you want to convey to others?

And remember this: If you can’t sleep, get up and do something.

Thanks for the sound advice Heather.

Although I agree with most of what you said, I think people who do otherwise, seem to manage things in a different way.

For instance, I always have a problem with being on time. But I notice I always miss the small talk and arrive for the “big talk.” I get more done in the day this way.

What do you say about that?
