Birthday Celebration

Reality Check

Most Americans think they are fair minded. But I think most are biased ... especially when it comes to politics. Is that a good thing? You tell me.

How biased are you? Let's do a little experiment. Below in the video section of this email you will see 2 links. Both are funny... but NOT universally funny because they are political in nature. One appeals to right wingers (conservatives) and one appeals to left wingers (liberals).

Watch the video of your political leaning first. You'll find it really funny. But then watch the video of the other side. Is it funny? I didn't think so. Could you even finish reading or watching the video? I think the intensity of your discomfort is directly proportional to your bias. Are you surprised how bad it is?

How is it that intelligent people ... compassionate souls, can disagree in so many things? One insensitive remark and the invisible protective walls slide up. The outstretched hand of help is withdrawn and in its place comes a fist that will defend and deal uppercut deathblows. Reasoning is turned off. The labels come up --- Enemy! Untrustworthy! Stupid! Stubborn! Pathetic! Brainwashed! Lost! Ridiculous! Immature!

Is reconciliation possible? I like to think so. I know it's necessary to work together. And it starts with realizing we are all biased. That means we don't listen as much as we should. A little respect, an ounce of patience, and a dose of humility and the world will be a better place. Now wouldn't that be nice?

TGIF people!

Birthday Celebration

Denny’s has a slogan:
“If it’s your birthday, the meal is on us.”

If you’re in Denny’s and it’s your birthday ...
your life sucks!

Something to Think About

I think it's pretty cool how Chinese people made a language entirely out of tattoos.

For Republicans only

Very witty analysis of what's happening in our investigation-crazy government.

Trump's First Big Boy Trip

For Democrats only

Cleverly done. Trump is made to look like a little boy going to his first overseas trip.

Eva Cassidy

My Mom discouraged me from being an artist when she said "the only rich artist is a dead artist." Her words ring true with this story about Eva Cassidy whose fame came after she passed away.
