Teachable Moments

Monday is Labor Day. It reminds me of an embarrasing question I never asked because I used to think that Labor Day had something to do with pregnancy.

I used to think that Memorial Day had something to do with buildings and Mausoleums.

I used to think that St. Patrick was one of the apostles.

I used to think that only my Mom really loved me during Valentine's Day.

I used to think that Winnie the Pooh had some digestive problems.

I used to think it was impossible to ride a horse without a saddle. My older brother said so and I believed him.

Why was I so confused? It's simple. I didn't want to look stupid so I never asked.

I often pray for my grandkids. I pray they are learning the facts of life correctly. I wonder what they're thinking. I'm always looking for that teachable moment. I want them to ask me questions like why the moon is not as bright as the sun or where birds sleep. I don't want them to grow up not knowing basic stuff and being too shy to ask.

Are you around young kids? Be a blessing to them. Be sure they know they can ask you silly questions ... even questions about Labor Day. TGIF people!

Last night, As I was getting in bed, she said,

"You’re drunk!"

I said, "How do you know?"

She said, "You live next door!"

God Only Knows BBC

What would you do without the BBC? This is quite an elaborate way of answering this question. Very compelling images juxtaposed with a musical relay.

Happy Labor Day America and Canada!
