Pig Story

THE FRUITS OF INJUSTICE

I spent almost the whole day at the auto mechanic's shop. As I watched them pull my car apart I was surprised that I still knew the parts they were removing and I knew what they needed to do.

I remembered how my Dad used to "force" me to help him fix our blue Chevy station wagon. That angered me no end because, out of all my brothers and sisters, Dad and Mom singled me out to help in this messy affair. I learned how to install light bulbs, replace electrical fuses, fix the TV and the radio, solder and install the Christmas lights, fix the leaky pipes, etc. How I hated it and cried for justice. They admitted they were wrong to demand so much from me but they still called on me for those chores. But you know what? I learned to use my hands. To this day (at least to my knowledge), none of my siblings have learned to fix stuff.

My wife and I were watching "Survivor" and she said she would die if there wasn't any bathroom; on the contrary, I realized I would probably thrive in a deserted island because I know how to survive.

I may have cried for justice when I was a kid but I am so much more prepared for anything because of my early deprivation. Thanks Mom and Dad for "forcing" me to become a "handy man" --- a better man!

Were you forced to play the piano? Forced to eat your vegetables? Forced to go to school? Are you now a better person? I thought so.

Pig Story

(Warning: Not for the super sensitive)

A farmer had 5 female pigs.

Times were hard, so he decided to take them to the county fair and sell them.

At the fair, he met another farmer who owned five male pigs.

After talking a bit, they decided to mate the pigs and split everything 50/50.

The farmers lived 60 miles apart, so they decided to drive 30 miles each and find a field in which to let the pigs mate.

The first morning, the farmer with the female pigs got up at 5 A.M., loaded the pigs into the family station wagon, (which was the only vehicle he had) and drove the thirty miles.

While the pigs were mating, he asked the other farmer,

"How will I know if they are pregnant?"

The other farmer replied,
"If they're lying in the grass tomorrow morning, they're pregnant.
If they're lying in the mud, they're not.
"

The next morning the pigs were rolling in the mud, so he hosed them off,
loaded them into the family station wagon again and proceeded to try again.

This continued each morning for more than a week and both farmers were worn out.

The next morning he was too tired to get out of bed. He called his wife,
"Honey, please look outside and tell me whether the pigs are in the mud or in the grass."

"Neither," yelled his wife, "they're in the station wagon ...

And one of them is honking the horn."

Art Specs for Free?

Artists. designers and ad men, gather round! How many times have you been asked to do spec jobs for free? This is my industry and I do meet clients who try to milk me of free advice. I see it all the time. This video is both funny and a sad reality check.

Next time you talk to a designer, remember this video.
