Pitiful Husbands

Game Changing Day

It was a Tuesday morning when my son woke me from a deep sleep. He said something was going on on TV. We watched in disbelief at the billowing smoke emanating from the Twin Towers. Many of us remember what we were doing during this horrific September 11 morning when the foundation of our security crumbled. The economy spiralled down. Two months later, I was laid off. I didn't know if I could survive. That was the last time I was employed in someone else's business.

I know our beliefs may be different and I respect that. But it was during those times I learned to be totally dependent on God.

Allow me to share what I've been doing during these early mornings. I've been studying the book of Ephesians. I like to call this book the apostle Paul's Half Time Pep Talk to the new believers of the 1st century. Paul reminded the believers who they really were (a chosen people), who God was (their loving Father who equipped them with amazing abilities) and their purpose (to finish the "race" strong). Ephesians is a good reminder even for us in the 21st century. Do you realize we possess power to climb mountains yet we feed off each other's insecurities and settle for molehills? How sad is that? It's like the eagle who thought he was a chicken and never attempted to fly. Or the full grown elephant who could not escape from his flimsy shackles because his trainers made him believe it wasn't possible.

In 9-11 we thought the world would collapse but it didn't. We pulled through. We survived one crisis after another. Even now, game changing events flood the news. May I suggest that, though we may be weary, let's remember Paul's Half Time Pep Talk: we are equipped to do so much more than we ever imagined. Let's encourage one another. We can still make a difference and use our gifts to finish the race. Wishful thinking? --- Only if you don't believe.

The Morning Run Puzzle
Contributed by Russ of Monrovia, CA

Guess what's happening. Where is this taking place?

A man left home one morning.
He turned right and ran straight ahead.
Then he turned left.

After a while, he turned left again, running faster than ever.

Then he turned left once more and decided to go home.

In the distance he could see two masked men waiting for him.

Who were these 2 masked men? Solve the puzzle before you scroll down for the answer.

In this tech age where people "type" instead of "write," a calligrapher makes a plea to bring back the art of penmanship.

I must confess my own handwriting has deteriorated. I wrote better when I was in in Grade School.

Dogs are color blind but they aren't deaf. Here's a video to prove it. I wonder if they can donate hearing organs to humans.
