Between 5 and 6

TEMPORARY REJECTION

My son called to tell me the good news --- he was accepted to Yale Grad School. Last year he was depressed because it was the first time in his young life he had not gotten any acceptance from the universities he wrote to. We suspected that his advisers had submitted his applications too late. We told him that God has His reasons and we needed to trust Him --- "ask God not what YOU want but what HE wants of you."

Since then we have seen his faith grow a notch up. He mellowed down.

This reminds me of a lecture about Moses. For the 1st 40 years he learned from the best minds of Egypt's palace under the gaze of the public. The next 40 years, alone, this superstar learned humility tending to sheep. He learned to listen to God. But it was during his last 40 years as a senior citizen that he was catapulted to greatness when he led 4 million Hebrews out of Egypt. Yet even then, greatness had its ups and downs because the roller coaster continued throughout the rest of Moses' life.

Moses had one major wish --- to step foot in the Promised Land but despite all of Moses' plea, God said NO because of what we humans deem as a minor infraction. But not according to God's standards.

Many think that this hero's career had a sad ending. But fast forward to the book of Matthew. Moses is mentioned talking with Jesus up in Mount Hermon which is well inside the Promised Land. God, in all of his wonderful justice, had granted Moses his request after all.

"Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus." ---- Matthew 17:3

Police Investigation
Sent by Tom of Pasadena, CA

A police officer came to my house and asked me where I was between 5 and 6.

He seemed irritated when I answered: "kindergarten."

5 Minutes

I just watched my dog chase its tail for 5 minutes and I thought: "Dogs are easily entertained."

Then I realized, I was just watching my dog chase its tail for 5 minutes.

Warning: Might be offensive to some

Michael Davis Juggling

A crazy guy this Jim Carrey. Here's a classic video where he was set loose to do anything he wanted to do ... and he did. If you know Jim, you know his jokes may be a little edgy so watch with caution.

Thrilling Sports in Slow Motion

Risky Athletes

Beautiful video of athletic stunts. It's kinda long but very well crafted. It's been a while since I felt as invincible as some of these daredevils.

Old Barns and Old People
Contributed by Judie of South Carolina

Beautiful Old barn

This is such a contrast to the previous video. The music's slow, the video's low tech and the message is slow in coming but the lesson is still good. It's about aging gracefully.

Awesome Billiard Trick Shots

Pool Trick Shots

What do you do when you have all the time in the world? Why you become a pool trick shot artist. This guy must have spent hours on the billiard table. In some of the scenes you can see how worn out the table had become from all of his experiments.

Hydrocoating Magic

hydrocoating magic

Fascinating process of transferring a design to a 3d object. Mind boggling.

Scary Baby

Scary Baby

Definitely going viral is this upcoming movie video. I don't have any intention of watching this movie but I still find the people's reaction very amusing.

Cancer Wigs

Not a joke but serious advice regarding disposing your used up battery. This guy's home was burned down due to this freak accident.

Warning: Skip these photos if you are politically sensitive

Risky Athletes

You've seen those photos of President Obama doing a "selfie" during the funeral services for Nelson Mandela, right? But do you know the real story? This is a succession of photos not comonly shared. Whether they were really taken within context is unclear but this is really funny. And though it may be about a political figure it's not about politics. I debated whether I should include this last week. I hope you don't mind.
