Lies
of My Country
I watched an old movie
--- Quiz Show. It was about a game show that was rigged by the
producers of NBC in the 1950s.
In
this election year, you watch pompous politicians elevate themselves to
stratospheric nobility. It may have been easy to fool people at an earlier
time but in this age of Youtube and sound bites you have evidence they
lie to their teeth. Watching liars talk is a study of acting.
But
we are part of the problem. I read somewhere that in order for a lie to
become successful the receiver of the lie has to be willing to accept
it. Our preconceptions aid liars. When we vote for them they become even
better liars.
But
what I am concerned about is not that people want to believe the lies.
More frightening is the fact that people don't care anymore. They accept
dishonesty as a norm. They've lost the Integrity Battle and have
moved on.
Philippine
President Duterte has been admonished by international opinions about
his unorthodox sense of justice. Some 3,000 drug pushers are victims of
vigilantes in his first 100 days in office. A country that has seen corruption
flourish because the rich (with their stronger legal connections) is finally
seeing justice administered. 3/4 of the locals approve of his methods.
Can you blame them?
Rather
than wait for vigilantes to take over the law here in America, can we
be the catalysts for honesty and integrity? Let's leave a positive legacy.
In Quiz Show,
the liar confesses to his father. He thought it was only his reputation
that was at stake but his father reminded him: "Your name is mine!"
TGIF people!

Tell a LIE once and all your TRUTHS become questionable!

It's
not the LIE that bothers me. It's the INSULT to my intelligence that I
find offensive.
